100 miles for Pediatric Hearts

Hello my name is Cheryl Jacisin. My mission is to raise funds for pediatric pulmonary heart research and to build awareness of pediatric heart issues.
My cousin Skyler was a beautiful and lively little girl who passed away unexpectedly when her heart failed her. In memory of Skyler I hope to raise money to help The Children's Hospital of Denver, Colorado fund research on Pediatric Pulmonary Issues.

The American Heart Association reports the following statistics:

Thousands of infants born each year have congenital cardiovascular defects. Of those who have these defects,

4–10%have atrioventricular septal defect.
8–11%have coarctation of the aorta. 9–14% have tetralogy of Fallot.
10–11%have transposition of the great arteries.
14–16%have ventricular septal defects. 4–8% have hypoplastic left heart syndrome

Other children will develop acquired heart disease. This includes...

* Arrhythmias.
* Cardiomyopathies.
* Kawasaki disease.
* Rheumatic fever.
* Familial hypercholesterolemia will affect the future of an unknown but probably large number of children.

Along with increased rates of childhood obesity, diabetes, and depression, acquired heart diseases are also on the rise.

For every dollar provided by the national medical funding arm of the American government, the National Institute of Health (NIH), only one penny is provided for pediatric research, and only a portion of that penny goes to support research on heart defects, the most common birth defect. Please help us research and find ways of preventing and treating childhood heart diseases.
Sign in the guest book and tell me how much you can contribute per mile. For Example Cheryl Jacisin $1.00/mile.

Thank you for supporting pediatric heart research.
